Short on time, but big on purpose? Welcome to Scaling Up Your Impact, a podcast dedicated to delivering practical, trauma-informed tools, mindset shifts, and clinical strategies for therapists who want to grow—without burning out. I’m Kelly Smyth-Dent, the Founder of Scaling Up, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to our introduction podcast episode – a place to learn more about Scaling Up and what to expect from our podcast episodes.
If you’re listening to this, chances are you’re a therapist who cares deeply about making a difference in your clients’ lives, while also taking care of yourself in the process. Maybe you’re new to trauma work, or perhaps you’re a seasoned EMDR clinician looking to refine your skills. Wherever you are in your journey, you’re in the right place.
Before we dive in, let me share a bit about who we are and why we created this podcast. Since 2018, our company, Scaling Up, has been providing high-quality, accessible, and affordable trainings for therapists. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of training thousands of therapists around the world, building a community of like-minded professionals who are passionate about trauma-informed care and making a positive impact.
During our trainings and within our community, we consistently receive questions—thoughtful, important questions about implementing trauma-informed approaches, navigating challenges in therapy, and sustaining ourselves while doing this meaningful work. We realized that a podcast would be the perfect platform to address these questions and make our insights more accessible to therapists everywhere.
Each week, we’ll deliver episodes packed with practical wisdom, clinical tools, and expert experience that you can apply with clients right away. Episodes will span a variety of information related to: trauma-informed tools, crisis response preparedness strategies, EMDR clinical tips, humanitarian and community response experiences, and much more.
What makes our podcast unique? Well, some episodes will be hosted by real members of the Scaling Up team, like myself, bringing their diverse expertise and perspectives to the microphone. Other episodes will feature AI-generated voices presenting Scaling Up’s trusted content in engaging and interesting ways.
We’re excited about this innovative approach because it allows us to create more content and reach more therapists while maintaining the high quality you expect from us. We value transparency, so we’ll always let you know when you’re listening to an AI-generated host. But rest assured, whether the voice is human or AI, the content is always rooted in real-world, trauma-informed clinical wisdom from our team’s collective experience across the field, research, and training rooms worldwide.
Each episode will focus on a topic with actionable takeaways you can implement immediately. And occasionally, we’ll provide companion resources on our website for those who want to dive deeper into a particular topic. If you go to www.scalingupemdr.com or the show notes, you can sign up for our newsletter, and always be informed when new episodes drop. You’ll also receive related workbooks or discounts for upcoming trainings.
Our hope is that this podcast becomes a valuable resource in your professional journey—a place where you can reconnect with your “why,” refine your “how,” and expand your influence, one purposeful episode at a time.
We’re so glad you’re here! Thanks for tuning in to Scaling Up Your Impact. Remember: that the work you do has a positive ripple effect on not only your client’s lives but all the people that they interact with. You are making a big difference in the world, and we are here to support YOU. Let’s scale up our impact together. See you in the next episode.
