Course Overview

Bridging the Gaps in Your EMDR Practice

Therapists often encounter challenges that create gaps in their practice, hindering them from providing effective treatment for early intervention and ongoing traumatic situations.

This creates yet another gap – a gap in confidence.

Therapists feel inadequate and anxious about how to help their clients and their communities effectively.

As a result, they try to hodge-podge the protocols they know together into complicated treatment plans that don’t always create a strategic and sustainable path toward healing.

We don’t want this for you!

We want to help you feel confident and effective in your approach to trauma care.

What is the EMDR GAP Training?

The EMDR GAP Training is designed to bridge these gaps by offering you a stepped-care approach that addresses the specific needs of your clients and enhances your therapeutic impact.

This training, designed for EMDR-trained therapists, will expand your clinical and research horizons as you learn our highly effective and well-researched suite of treatment interventions.

The EMDR GAP Training consists of three transformative protocols and interventions:

[G] Group EMDR Protocol (EMDR-IGTP) – the most researched!
[A] ASSYST Treatment Interventions
[P] EMDR-PRECI Protocol

Identifying the Gaps

After getting trained in the EMDR Basic Training, you might find yourself asking:

  • How can we treat complex trauma with more efficient approaches?
  • How can we help more people faster?
  • How can we create rapid response teams and crisis care in our communities and around the globe?
  • How can we make EMDR therapy more accessible and affordable for the masses?

Our protocols and interventions can be delivered both in-person and online.

They are the most researched in the field of EMDR early intervention and ongoing traumatic stress, with nearly 80 high-quality, peer-reviewed published papers (follow this link to our intervention’s full bibliography).

The Solution: EMDR GAP Training

Our training will address these critical questions by teaching you three essential protocols and interventions:

  1. Group EMDR Protocol (EMDR-IGTP-OTS): This protocol is the most researched and offers a structured approach to providing EMDR therapy in group settings, allowing you to reach multiple clients simultaneously and effectively.
  2. ASSYST Treatment Interventions: These procedures (individual and group formats) help you to quickly stabilize clients and address acute stress reactions. They can be used in both crisis response and clinical situations.
  3. EMDR-PRECI Protocol: This protocol provides a comprehensive method for addressing recent events, and past/present prolonged or ongoing traumatic stress, ensuring continuous therapeutic progress and client resilience.

Join us to enhance your EMDR practice and make a profound impact in your community and beyond.

Itinerary & Objectives

  • Training Objectives

    • Explain the AIP-theoretical model and the relationship between this model and the human nervous system.
    • Describe what clinician should do during critical care, rapid response or early intervention and the neurophysiological reasons.
    • Explain the relationship between the Polyvagal theory and the co-regulation, and how clinicians can keep a physiological non-anxious presence to help the clients co-regulate.
    • Describe our AIP-informed treatment procedures and protocols in the context of local and international disaster response.
    • Explain the ASSYST procedures definition, references, objectives, and the rationale for their specific design to address Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) intrusion symptoms.
    • Explain the ASSYST treatment procedures from the AIP-perspective.
    • Utilize the ASSYST-Individual procedure in a practice scenario with a partner to prepare for using with real clients after the training or by observing a demonstration (if taking the course on demand).
    • Use the ASSYST-Group procedure in a practice scenario with a partner to prepare for using with real clients after the training or by observing a demonstration (if taking the course on demand).
    • Define Early Psychological Interventions, the three types of PTSD diagnosis prevention, how can we identified those at risk to develop PTSD, Early and Ongoing Traumatic Stress (prolonged adverse experiences) clinical presentations.
    • Describe the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) Model based Acute Trauma and Ongoing Traumatic Stress Theoretical and Case Conceptualization (Jarero & Artigas, Sixth Edition, 2022).
    • Utilize the EMDR-PRECI in a practice scenario with a partner to prepare for using with real clients after the training or by observing a demonstration (if taking the course on demand).
    • Utilize the EMDR-IGTP-OTS in a practice scenario with a partner to prepare for using with real clients after the training or by observing a demonstration (if taking the course on demand).
  • EMDR GAP Protocols Applications

The interventions included in the EMDR GAP Training are among the most adaptable, versatile, and culturally responsive.

Because they were developed and researched in communities across the globe (not just in Western clinical facilities & settings), clinicians will have an accessible approach to trauma intervention.

EMDR GAP Protocols can be used in a wide array of settings such as:

    • Private practice & community mental health agencies
    • Hospitals, residential, and PHP settings
    • Humanitarian field work sites and community centers
    • Schools, universities, and workplaces

EMDR GAP Protocols are effective at treating many forms of acute and chronic stress and trauma, including:

    • Acute & prolonged childhood traumas
    • Intimate relationship traumas (i.e.: DV, etc.)
    • Career traumas (i.e.: first responders, healthcare workers, military members)
    • Climate traumas (i.e.: earthquakes, wildfire, hurricane survivors)
    • Community violence traumas & tragedies (i.e.: mass shootings, loss of a beloved community member)
    • Medical traumas
    • Sociopolitical traumas (i.e.: poverty, oppression)
    • War & geopolitical-related traumas (i.e.: terrorist attacks, refugees)
