How long does it take to complete EMDR Basic Training?

The training must be completed live—it is not available on demand—and participants must attend 100% of the sessions to receive their certificate. A hybrid format is also offered, with in-person Part I and virtual Part II, at multiple locations across the U.S.

Who is eligible to enroll in EMDR Basic Training?

EMDR Basic Training is open to licensed mental health professionals, students enrolled in an accredited graduate program, and interns on a state licensing track. Scaling Up is approved by NBCC, ASWB, and APA to provide continuing education, and holds New York State approval for mental health counselors and social workers.

Between the two parts, participants begin seeing EMDR clients and attending consultation groups.

EMDRIA requires 100% attendance to complete the EMDR Basic Training. If an emergency arises, participants may transfer to a future cohort for an additional fee. Transfer fees range from $0 (30+ days in advance) to $300 (after training begins). All cancellation and transfer deadlines are based on your original cohort start date and do not reset upon transfer.
